Loosing Weight - What is the Mystery?

Whenever someone starts on an exercise program, one of the most common goals is to loose weight. For many people loosing weight is actually a real mystery, how to do it. This is why you will see thousand’s of different diets on the market. Everyone is trying to capture the next diet fad.

The truth is that there really is no mystery to loosing weight and keeping it off. It is just a simple equation, eat less, and exercise more. How easy, right, wrong, for many people, eating less is one thing but eating right is tough and then working out is so painful. Unfortunately this is the mystery; you have to do the right thing, no shortcuts here, no miracle drug or magic potion.

If you are someone with this goal, you can do it. You see anyone can do it. You need just a little desire, dedication, motivation and commitment. If you are having difficulty meeting this goal, get a friend or two and work towards this goal together. Plan you meals together, workout together. Friends help keep everyone motivated and striving for the goal. If you have friends that are not the type to commit, then get a coach who can push you, encourage you and motivate you. Do something, make it happen.

There is a lot that can be said about how to loose weight, and I can go on and on. If you have a story about how you lost weight through eating the right diet and exercise, let us know.

Stay strong.

Setting Personal Fitness Goals

How many times have you started training, working out or exercising only to stop after a period of time and then after a period of inactivity have you felt regretful for stopping and even mad that you did not maintain your workout routine. I am sure it has happened to many readers. This is natural and nothing to be ashamed about. However, here is the solution to avoid that feeling next time. Start setting yourself personal fitness goals.

Before starting to workout regularly set a goal or a set of goal, they must be attainable. Do not strive too high otherwise failure to reach them will result in despair. You goals should be attainable in the following ways, in time and in distance. Let’s look at both:

Time.
Do not make a goal that is two years out or even one year out. If you have a goal that is that long away, maybe it’s a walking or running race, or even a weight goal. For set intermediate goals, for instance, you want to walk a mile in 12 minutes in one year’s time; your intermediate goal will be “I want to be able to walk/run a 15-minute mile in two months”. Get there first, assess how well that went then set your next time goal.

Distance
Do not make your goal a crazy distance, just because it is far out. Do not say I want to run a marathon when you have never run a mile. Set your distance goal at 5 miles, then 10 miles, then 15 miles then 20 miles and then finally 26 miles. You will get there, just be patient.

If you have any great stories of how you set your own personal goals, please share with us or if you have some good advice, we would love to hear from you.

Do Something for Yourself

Participating in an exercise program no matter what it is should be a way to treat you. You may ask, how can exercising which usually is followed by your heart pounding, heavy sweating, and being out of breath be something that you do for yourself? Very simply, slow down, relax, and take some time to enjoy it. If you are outdoors, enjoy the scenery; look forward to spotting different birds, animals and even people passing you by. If its winter and there is snow, enjoy seeing nature a little differently, when the leaves are gone and trees are bare, nature looks so much like a postcard.

Mostly though, exercise is a gift. We have only so many years that we can be active before it can be come dangerous and even life threatening. Many older adults cannot go outside by themselves for fear of falling and breaking bones. Enjoy your freedom as a young adult.

Lastly, exercising allows you to give yourself a better life through being healthy and fit. Good health is a present that can have a long lasting effect into your older years. Do not wait until it is too late, do something for yourself today.

Create Lasting Friendships

Creating lasting friendships can be really tough after being out of school for so many years. How do you find friends to share quality time with that result in life long relationships? Many people resort to play dates between their children and your own. This is fun, while it lasts. Kids grow up, jobs get transferred and these moments of friendship slip away.

Lasting friendships are bonded by something more than just play dates or the occasional meeting. Friendships develop when the two parties share something together like walking and running. Exercise is a great way to create long lasting friends. Exercise creates routine, discipline and combined goals. This is common cause helps to cement the friendship.

So if you are looking for a friend, why not find someone to exercise with. Get out into the open together, walk, run and talk. Share a cup of tea or coffee after the exercising. Try it and have fun.

If you have a friendship story to share that resulted from walking or running, let everyone know.
